Michael Hendy is Group Managing Director and a Consulting Civil Engineer with over 30 years of experience in the industry. He is a specialist in geotechnics and a Member of the Academy of Experts, since 2008. He has worked throughout South East Asia, in the UK, Africa and the Middle East and is actively involved in dispute resolution of complex geotechnical projects. He has been based in Hong Kong since 1994.

Michael Hendy has spent a large part of the last 20 years working on major reclamation and soft ground projects with a significant involvement in container terminals and ports globally over the last 10 years. He is a hands-on specialist with expertise in site investigation, slopes, dredging, piling, reclamations, ground treatment and earthworks. He has been extensively involved in back-analysis.

His early career was with major consultants where he was responsible for geotechnical aspects of major infrastructure including motorways in the UK and slope upgrading and strategic highways in Hong Kong. His career has involved him in all aspects of project procurement from planning studies to preparing detailed ground investigations, from interpreting results and detailed design to providing site supervision and construction advice. Michael has led large teams and worked in multi-disciplinary groups both as a team leader and as a specialist.

He was Design Project Manager of Disney Land reclamation in Hong Kong. Recent major projects include the 200-hectare London Gateway Port & Park, a 150-hectare reclamation for infrastructure in Hong Kong and Peer Review and ICE for the 650-hectare Third Runway at Hong Kong International Airport. He is currently the geotechnical designer of a 70-hectare port in Mumbai.
